She also received a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, and completed all but the dissertation for a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. She was previously an elementary school teacher and a teacher of learning disabilities. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Kane County Bar Association.
